Dana has a BSc in Psychology from the University of Toronto. She has been engaged in the life of West Hill United Church since 1995 and has just completed a three year term as Chair of the Board.

Dana grew up in the United Church, where her family was actively involved. Prior to coming to WHUC, she would have had a difficult time characterising her spirituality. After a religious journey that took her, briefly, to places strange and sometimes frightening, her faith had become about what she didn’t believe, and about what she had discarded. She writes, Over the past several years, through my connection with West Hill, I have come to understand my faith not in what I have rejected but in values that I now embrace: just and compassionate living, making a difference in yourself, your relationships, and the world.

In the last year, Dana took up cycling and in the warm months can sometimes be seen cycling to church from her home in Ajax. She recently completed the Ride to Conquer Cancer, a two day, 200km ride from Toronto to Niagara Falls in support of cancer research at the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Of the last three years as board chair, Dana says, Life has been full. Despite some huge challenges, the time has been incredibly rewarding and I rejoice in the connections I’ve made and the ties I’ve strengthened with other congregation members. I wouldn’t have missed this opportunity for anything.
